How many tour hosts have spent ten years living in Jerusalem? Or can say they have studied and taught in Israel? Or can demonstrate a passion for academics, missions combined with a love for God’s inerrant Word.  From 1990 until 2001, Paivi spent ten years as a volunteer to help Holocaust victims and the elderly in Jerusalem.  Bill did some of his graduate work at Jerusalem University College on Mount Zion and has taught at the Galilee Bible College in Haifa. He is a published author and is currently editing his 1,200 single-spaced manuscript titled The Historical and Cultural Background on the Life of Christ. Together they have also ministered in Europe, Africa and at various churches Stateside.

As part of their tour you will not only see and experience the Holy Land, but you will also have time to simply “soak it in.”  It is spiritually enlightening read a Scripture passage and realize you are where that particular event took place. With Bill’s instruction you begin to understand the historical and cultural settings behind what Jesus said and did.

With Dr. Bill you will also have one of Israel’s best tour guides – one recommended by one of the fine Bible colleges in Israel.  Together they will present on-site teaching of the biblical text-in-context approach to reading scripture. The approach to visiting the Land sets the setting of the first-century political, historical, cultural, religious and geographical background to the biblical text, showing the time and circumstances of the writers, speakers, and listeners of the message when first proclaimed. Bill also presents numerous quotations from ancient non-biblical sources that help develop understanding of the biblical narratives.

Finally, Bill and Paivi met in the summer of 2001 while Bill was doing graduate research. Two summers later Paivi’s family came from Finland and Bill’s from the States.
